A court in Dhaka on Monday scheduled a hearing on the charge filing against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in 11 cases for June 15.
According to Additional Public Prosecutor Tapash Kumar Pal, Judge Md Asaduzzaman of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court adjourned the hearing and set a new date.
Following petitions filed by the defense alleging various justifications, the adjournment occurred.
Following a government executive decree, Khaleda was released from prison but is currently ill and staying at her Gulshan home.
Ten of the eleven cases were filed in the first three months of 2015 regarding arson attacks. The eleventh case was filed with a court in Dhaka on charges of uttering seditious remarks against martyrs from the Liberation War and liberation fighters.
Three additional special tribunals in Dhaka are currently hearing three corruption cases against Khaleda, including Gatco, Niko, and Boropukuria Coalmine.
The Second Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court is currently hearing two additional cases.
