China denounced the attack on China’s consulate in Mandalay last week and urged Myanmar’s authorities to take all necessary steps to apprehend those responsible, a foreign ministry spokesperson said on Monday.
During a routine news conference, spokesperson Lin Jian stated that a blast that occurred at 5:00 pm on Saturday caused partial damage to the consulate’s premises but did not result in any casualties.
China has made “serious representations” to Myanmar’s authorities, Lin said, demanding a full investigation and all possible legal measures to punish the offenders harshly.
“The Chinese consulate in Myanmar has reminded all its citizens, businesses, and organizations to pay attention to the security situation and take the appropriate precautions,” he continued.
