A delegation of the Chinese Communist Party paid a courtesy call on Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Wednesday.
The eight-member delegation, led by vice minister of the International Department of the Communist Party Chen Zhou, met the minister at Setu Bhabhan in Dhaka in the morning.
Yao Wen, the new Chinese ambassador to Bangladesh, was present at the time.
While exchanging views, Quader lauded China’s contribution to the development
of various infrastructures including the construction of the Padma Bridge, Karnaphuli Tunnel, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), etc in Bangladesh.
During the visit, the minister highlighted the bonding of the two countries and their people. He also emphasized on strengthening the tie by developing the transportation system of both the countries.
The Chinese delegation congratulated Obaidul Quader on being elected as general secretary of the Awami League for the third time.
