Due to escalating prices, Bangladesh has permitted the import of raw pepper and green chilies, with 93 tons of green chilies arriving in less than a week.
After the Eid holidays, 36,830 tons of green chilies and 55 tons of raw pepper may be imported, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
In the nation’s capital and other kitchen markets, the retail price of green chilies hit a record high of Tk 800 per kg.
To lower prices before Eid, the government permitted the import of green chilies, but this action has not yet had an impact on prices.
