The country is observing its 53rd Independence and National Day in a dignified manner. The government has organized extensive events to celebrate Independence Day and National Day.
By laying wreaths at the National Monument in Savar this morning, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina honored the Liberation War heroes.
The PM also paid tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by laying a wreath at his portrait in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi 32 in Dhaka on her way back from the National Memorial.
Sheikh Hasina placed another wreath in the image of Bangabandhu on behalf of the Awami League, flanked by central leaders. Before this, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina each sent a message to Bangladeshi citizens living domestically and overseas on the occasion of Independence Day.
At Savar’s National Memorial, a gun salute and wreath-laying ceremony were held to remember the Liberation War martyrs. Once the president and the prime minister left at 6:10 am, the memorial area was made public.
Many political parties, organizations, and regular citizens gathered at the memorial to lay floral wreaths in honor of the nation’s valiant martyrs.
