The tanners in the country collected more than 4.11 million pieces of salted rawhide and skins. The fisheries and livestock ministry said that an estimated 14.1 million sacrificial animals were slain.
Insiders in the industry predict that this year, more than 9.5 million pieces of salted hides would be collected nationally. The traders in question were buying various kinds of rawhide and skins at prices specified by the government.
With a 6.0% increase in cowhide costs over the previous year, the government set the pricing for rawhide from sacrificed animals that have been treated with salt.
For sacrificial animals, the rawhide price has been set at Tk 50–55 per square foot (sq ft) in Dhaka city and Tk 45–48 per square foot outside of Dhaka.
