To build a dual-gauge railway linking Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have agreed to a loan agreement worth $400 million.
The help is part of a $1.5 billion loan from the ADB for the SASEC Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar Railway project.
The 102-kilometer line connecting Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar will be built thanks to the loan.
The project is a top investment for the underprivileged, including the elderly, women, children, and those with disabilities, and it aims to promote trade, investment, and tourism in the area.
The new rail connection is a part of the Trans-Asia Railway network, which aims to provide rail links between Asia and Europe to better connect markets and people.
