The ongoing nationwide disruption to gas stations, as confirmed by Iran’s Oil Minister Javad Owji yesterday, is the result of a cyberattack.
Iranian state TV and Israeli media reported that an attack that caused disruptions at gas stations throughout the nation yesterday was carried out by a hacking group that Iran alleges has ties to Israel.
Owji had earlier claimed on Iranian state TV that service disruptions had occurred at roughly 70% of Iran’s gas stations and that external meddling might have been the reason. Afterward, he claimed that 1,650 gas stations were open. 3,800 gas stations are under the ministry’s jurisdiction.
The disruption was allegedly caused by the Predatory Sparrow group, according to state TV news in Iran. Local media outlets in Israel also reported on the claim.
