Australia opener David Warner broke the news that he would be retiring just four days before the commencement of the eagerly anticipated World Test Championship Final between Australia and India at The Oval. He gave a hint that 2023 might be his final year playing for his country.
Warner revealed that he wants to end his Test career following Australia’s Test match against Pakistan in January at his home ground in Sydney. Since 2009, Warner has provided outstanding service to Australian cricket in all formats. Warner has scored 8,132 runs at an average of 46.20 in 101 Test matches so far. In the format, he has 25 centuries, 34 fifties, and a top individual score of 335 not out.
Warner has also played for Australia in 141 One-Day Internationals, where he has scored 6,007 runs at an average of 45.16. In the format, he has 19 centuries, 27 fifties, and a best individual score of 179.
