The amount of non-performing loans (NPLs) in Bangladesh’s banking industry reached a record-breaking Tk 284,977 crore in September, making up about 17% of all outstanding loans.
The entire amount of the outstanding loan is Tk 16.82 lakh crore.
The data from the Bangladesh Bank indicates that this is the largest amount of bad loans in the nation’s history, surpassing the previous record of Tk 211,391 crore recorded in the April-June quarter.
