Dengue infections this year have affected 1,700 people, which is five times as many as at this time last year, according to Health Minister Zahid Maleque.
Maleque said special wards and beds have been set up at hospitals across the nation for treating dengue patients when speaking at a press event at the Secretariat in the afternoon.
310 patients with dengue were admitted to hospitals between January 1 and May 28 of last year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). This year, there were 1,771 throughout the same period.
Starting this week, the government would launch a nationwide campaign for Covid-19 booster doses. The World Health Organization would provide the government with 30 lakh variant-containing vaccinations (VCV), he added.
