Three people—a father and son—have died and eight more have been injured in a collision involving a bus and a vehicle on Bangabandhu Bridge.
Abdul Kader Jilani, the head of Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station, stated that the event happened on Saturday at about 5:15 a.m. close to the bridge’s thirteenth pillar.
The deceased have been identified as Chandan Shekhar, 36, a passenger on the bus from the Bonbaria region of the same town; his son Shahriar Ripu, 27, and supervisor Rois Uddin, 62, of the Dhanbandi section of Sirajganj town.
Jilani stated that close to the 13th pillar of the Bangabandhu Bridge, the Sirajganj Dhaka Express bus lost control and collided with a truck.
Nine people were hurt and three people died at the spot when the front of the bus was crushed in the collision.
Following the announcement, the deceased and injured were brought to the Sirajganj Bongomata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital for post-mortem examination and medical attention.
The collision caused a 30-minute standstill to traffic on the bridge’s Dhaka-bound lane, but Jilani stated that once the damaged bus was evacuated, normalcy was restored.
As soon as the collision occurred, the truck left the area.
