The ‘Film Festival 2023 by Film Society Members’ is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh and the 60th anniversary of the film society movement in Bangladesh.
A chosen collection of movies produced over the course of the last 60 years by Bangladeshi film societies will be screened during this 10-day festival.
The festival’s opening ceremony took place on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy’s National Art Gallery Auditorium.
The eminent Masihuddin Sarker and Syed Salahuddin Zaki launched the celebration. Liaquat Ali Lucky, the Director General of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, attended the event as a special guest, and Belayat Hossain Mamun, the General Secretary of the Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh, gave the opening remarks.
Morshedul Islam, a well-known director, presented the opening remarks at the event, which was presided over by Kaizer Chowdhury, a member of the FFSB advisory council.
The engaging documentary “Adam Surat” by Tareque Masud served as the festival’s opening film. This movie honors the great artist SM Sultan’s 100th birthday by showing the creative genius that established his reputation. Additionally, the interesting movie “Chaka” by Morshedul Islam was screened.
A total of 43 films will be screened during the course of the 10-day festival, including 22 feature films, 13 documentaries, and 8 short films. Every day at 3 p.m., 5.30 p.m., and 7.30 p.m., the festival displays will start, allowing movie fans to engage in a wide variety of cinematic experiences.
