Metropolis Desk-
At least six people were murdered in a fire at a golf ball factory in Taiwan, three of them firefighters who perished in an explosion, according to authorities on Saturday.
According to the Pingtung County government, the fire, which broke out on Friday evening and burned all night, injured more than 100 individuals, most of whom were laborers.
Three additional persons as well as one firefighter are still missing.
On Saturday morning, Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen paid a visit to the scene and offered her sympathies to the relatives of the victims. She said that a probe into the tragedy’s trigger was already in progress. Tsai urged the emergency response team, “Please stay safe, and thank you all for your hard work.”
She also visited the injured at a hospital and paid her condolences to the deceased at the morgue.
One huge explosion and numerous minor explosions may have been caused by chemical peroxide stored within the plant, a Pingtung Fire Department spokesman informed local media.
The blasts forced a part of the factory roof to fall, trapping several individuals inside.
