Fire Disrupts Operations at Tata Electronics iPhone Plant in India, Sources Say

Production was suspended on Saturday while firefighters worked to contain a fire at a significant Tata Electronics facility in southern India that manufactures Apple iPhones, according to two individuals with knowledge of the situation.

Tata Electronics stated in a statement that it was looking into what started the fire and would take the appropriate action to protect the interests of its stakeholders and employees.

“An unfortunate fire occurred at our plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. A Tata Electronics representative said in a statement, “Our emergency protocols at the plant ensured that all of our employees are safe.

A firsthand witness to the incident reported that a fire broke out in a portion of the factory, halting production and sending workers home for the day. They identified the fire as “chemical-related.”.

A fire services official stated that although there were no confirmed casualties, the fire caused a building at the plant to collapse.

Speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, the fire official told Reuters that it would take time to put out the fire, which started in the morning in an area used to store chemicals.

The district’s top industrial safety official, J. Saravanan, stated that they were investigating the cause of the fire. We are unable to enter due to the destruction of the pathway. It will cool down over the course of a day, he informed Reuters.

The Hindu newspaper said that over ten fire and rescue vehicles were on the scene attempting to control the situation.
