Rashedul Sajib Najib, deputy director of Benapole Land Port, reported the shipment of twelve tonnes of hilsa to India and directed field-level staff to ensure efficient processing of upcoming shipments.
He continued, “The relevant authorities at Benapole gave the hilsa clearance, and it arrived at the Petrapole land port in India.”
The fixed export price for a kilogramme of hilsa is $10.
The shipment is received by RS Enterprises and RJ Enterprises, two Kolkata-based Indian importers.
In response to India’s request, 49 exporters have received permission from the Bangladeshi government to export 2,420 metric tonnes of hilsa fish ahead of Durga Puja, according to Inspector Aswadul Islam of the Benapole Fisheries Inspection and Quality Control Centre.
The Ministry of Commerce’s guidelines require the completion of all Hilsa exports by October 12.
