After two consecutively subpar years, farmers and fishermen in Chattogram are anticipating a brisk business from eggs harvested from the Halda River.
14,000–18,000 kilograms of eggs have reportedly been collected thus far this year, with at least 350 kilograms of spawn anticipated.
More than Tk40 crore is thought to be the market value of the resulting fish. The market value of the high-quality spawn from the Halda River is estimated to be Tk 4.5 crore.
With a faster rate of carp growth in the river, Halda makes the biggest economic contribution to the country.
From the egg stage to the dining table, Halda makes economic contributions in four stages to the fisheries industry. It’s anticipated that the eggs collected this year will bring in about Tk40 crore in revenue.
Due to the high mortality rate of spawn in earthen and circular hatchery containers, proper arrangements are essential to maximizing the yield from the Halda spawn.
