Delhi Metro services have been impacted by the flood-like scenario in the city after the route to Yamuna Bank metro station was closed due to an increase in Yamuna’s water level.
On Twitter, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that the Yamuna Bank station was inaccessible. A transfer point between Noida and Ghaziabad is located at this Blue Line station. The transfer facility is not impacted, according to the Metro authorities.
The approach road leading to Yamuna Bank Metro Station is currently unavailable due to the Yamuna River’s rising flood levels. Please make your travel arrangements accordingly and think about alternate routes. However, there is an interchange facility,” the DMRC said.
Although services are normal, according to DMRC, trains are traversing all Metro bridges at a limited speed.
“Trains are moving via all four Metro bridges over the Yamuna with a restricted speed of 30 kmph as a precaution due to rising water levels in the river. All corridors have regular services, it said.
Given that numerous major roads in the national capital are underwater and as a result, there are already severe traffic jams on other routes, a further impact on Metro services could potentially paralyze transportation in the city. Yamuna’s water level was 208.46 meters at 7 am today as water from Haryana’s Hathnikund barrage continued to be released into the river. The water is currently three meters over the danger level.
Schools in the vicinity were forced to close due to the flood-like conditions, and three water treatment facilities were shut down.
