A shooting in Loon-Plage, close to the northern city of Dunkirk, killed two security officers and two migrants, according to security sources quoted by French media on Saturday.
According to French media, after the shooting, a 22-year-old man turned himself in to local authorities, claiming to have been the assailant and to have also killed a fifth person in a nearby town earlier that day.
French media reported the discovery of three additional weapons in the man’s vehicle.
The Justice Ministry and the Interior Ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The shooting’s motivations were not immediately apparent.
