Four Reform Commissions Submit Reports to Interim Government

The Electoral Reform Commission, Police Reform Commission, Constitutional Reform Commission, and Anti-Corruption Commission Reform Commission have submitted their reports to Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, outlining specific recommendations for state reforms.

According to the Chief Advisor’s Deputy Press Secretary, Apurba Jahangir, the reports were handed over to the Chief Advisor’s Office in Tejgaon on Wednesday morning.

Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam, announced on Tuesday that a press conference would be held at 3 pm, where some advisors would present the findings of the reports.

The reports were submitted by the respective heads of the commissions: Badiul Alam Majumder (Electoral Reform Commission), Iftekhar Zaman (ACC Reform Commission), Safar Raj Hossain (Police Reform Commission), and Ali Riaz (Constitutional Reform Commission). Members of the commissions were also present during the submission.

To formulate their recommendations, the commissions established websites to gather public opinions, engaged in discussions with stakeholders, conducted surveys, exchanged views, and reviewed written submissions.

The commissions for Electoral Reform, Police, Judiciary, Anti-Corruption Commission, and Public Administration were formed on Oct 3, while the Constitutional Reform Commission was established on Oct 6.

In a second phase on Nov 18, additional commissions were created for media, health, labor, women’s affairs, and local government reforms.

Although the initial deadline for submitting reports was set at 90 days, the terms for the six commissions formed in the first phase were later extended. Four of these commissions submitted their reports on Wednesday.
