France Charges Palestinian Man with Terrorism Financing

Due to possible ties to attacks against Israelis in the occupied West Bank in 2023, a Palestinian man has been accused in France with funding terrorism and participating in an attempted murder, a source close to the matter said on Thursday.

The National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office claimed that he is being prosecuted for alleged terrorist conspiracy with the intent to plan attacks against individuals, finance terrorism, and assist in attempted murder.

The man, who is in his mid-30s, was put in custody pending trial.
The suspect is thought to be a component of the Fatah party, which is the armed wing of Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas, and the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades.

Based on information from a person close to the matter, he is accused of supplying money to the Brigades and of being involved in operations against Israelis in the occupied West Bank early in 2023.

In December 2023, the office of the anti-terrorist prosecutor launched an investigation, which included this particular probe.

The insider claims that Israel notified the French authorities of the situation, which prompted the probe to begin.

Per the source, the individual has been a resident of France for a number of years.

When AFP contacted his attorney, Emanuel de Dinechin, he declined to talk.
