Election Commissioner Alamgir has stated that Bangladesh’s upcoming general election will take place sometime between the last week of December and the first week of January.
When speaking to the media on Tuesday at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon area, the election commissioner said, “We are working toward holding the polls between the last week of December and the first week of January.”
He added that the Election Commission will fix the precise date of the election at a subsequent meeting. He also added that the electoral seat draft was almost complete.
If the commission meeting receives the go-ahead next week, the draft will be published in a gazette.
