The joint statement made by 13 foreign missions denouncing the assault on independent candidate Hero Alom during the Dhaka-17 by-election has drawn criticism from the Bangladeshi government.
The government has requested that diplomats refrain from displaying undiplomatic attitudes as the comment is thought to violate the Vienna Convention and diplomatic code of conduct.
According to State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam, the government will express its displeasure to the different country’s capitals.
The missions demanded a thorough inquiry and judicial action against the attack’s perpetrators.
To discuss the Twitter message expressing concern over the attack on Alom, the authorities called UN resident coordinator Sheldon Yett.
