To encourage development and lessen overfishing, the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock intends to create a distinct economic zone just for the fishing industry.
This was disclosed by the minister during a session when participants called for a designated area for fish processing.
The event was arranged by the Economic Relations Division (ERD) in support of the Sustainable Graduation Project.
As part of its action plan to lessen overfishing and protect rare species, the government will provide land acquisition support for the establishment of the zone.
Such economic zones rely on the impulsive investment of individual companies to succeed.
