High Court Denies Fakhrul’s Bail Request

Metropolis Desk-

Today, the BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s bail request was denied by the High Court in the case about the October 28th, 2018, vandalism of the Chief Justice’s residence.

After hearing arguments on the case, the High Court bench consisting of Justices Md Salim and Shahed Nuruddin dismissed the rule about Fakhrul’s bail.

Deputy Attorney General BM Rafael told The Daily Star that Fakhrul cannot be released from jail due to the HC verdict.

After getting instructions from his client, Zainul Abedin, Fakhrul’s attorney, informed reporters that legal action would be taken.

The high court bench denied him bail on December 7 of last year, but they also issued a ruling requesting an explanation from the state as to why Fakhrul wasn’t eligible for bail in this particular case.

Through his attorneys, Fakhrul filed a bail petition with the HC on December 3, claiming that he did not know the chief justice’s residence was being vandalized.

He claimed to be an old man who had been afflicted with several illnesses, including heart issues.

Fakhrul was arrested on October 29 about the case that was reported to the Ramna Police Station.

On November 22, a Dhaka court denied him bail in the matter.
