Houthis Claim Attack on Israel and US Destroyers

In support of Gaza and Lebanon, the Houthi militants in Yemen, who are aligned with Iran, claimed on Friday that they had launched missiles and drones against three US destroyers in the Red Sea as well as the Israeli cities of Ashkelon and Tel Aviv.

It was after sirens were heard that the Israeli army claimed to have intercepted a missile fired from Yemen.

Operations won’t end until Israel’s offensives in Gaza and Lebanon cease, according to a military spokesman for the Houthis.

Yahya Sarea reported that the group fired a drone towards Ashkelon in southern Israel and launched a ballistic missile attack on Tel Aviv.

“We will carry out more military operations against the Israeli enemy to triumph for the sake of our brothers’ blood in Palestine and Lebanon,” he stated in a nationally syndicated address.

Moreover, Sarea claimed in a different broadcast speech that the group had simultaneously used 23 ballistic and winged missiles, a drone, and other weapons to target three US destroyers in the Red Sea as they were on route to assist Israel.

An inquiry for comment was not answered right away by the US military.

With the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, at its highest point in over 18 years, Israeli strikes have claimed more than 600 lives in Lebanon since Monday.

In an effort to aid Hamas, an ally of Palestinian militants fighting Israel in Gaza, Hezbollah has been launching rockets into Israel for nearly a year.
