Sania Mirza is set to become India’s first Muslim woman fighter pilot. She ranked second among the 19 seats reserved for women in the NDA. Sania appeared for the NDA exam in April this year and ranked 149th.
Sania is a resident of Jashovar village under Dehat Kotwali police station but currently lives in Mirzapur. Her father, Shahid Ali, is a TV mechanic by profession.
She moved to Mirzapur for higher education after passing her class-10 examination from the village school. She started training there.
Sania, good at studies since childhood, was inclined towards flying. However, she was inspired to become a fighter pilot by Flight Lieutenant Avani Chaturvedi, India’s first fighter pilot.
According to media reports, Sania will join the NDA Academy in the Pune district of Maharashtra on December 27. If all goes well, she will be the first Muslim woman fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force.
