Java, the largest island in Indonesia, experienced an earthquake on Monday that left at least 46 people dead and 700 injured, according to an Indonesian government official.
The quake also damaged thousands of houses.
The earthquake’s epicenter was on land in Cianjur, about 75km southeast of Jakarta, and at a depth of 10km.
The Indonesian meteorology and geophysics service reported that a 5.6-magnitude earthquake shook Jakarta.
