Afroza Haque Rina, vice president of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), and wife of JSD president Hasanul Haque Inu, submitted her candidacy papers today for the by-election to fill Rumeen Farhana’s reserved women’s seat.
In the Election Commission’s Agargaon office today, she handed the nomination papers to Joint Secretary and Returning Officer Md Abdul Baten. She turned in the papers in front of JSD General Secretary Shirin Akhter and Office Secretary Sajjad Hossain.
Afroza Haque, a candidate for the 14-party coalition led by the Awami League, presented the nomination papers, Abdul Baten told reporters.
The deadline for submitting nomination papers for the by-election for the reserved seat is today, per the schedule. On March 2, the nomination papers will be chosen.
March 6 is the final day to withdraw from consideration. On March 20, there will be an election. If no other candidates run, Afroza will be chosen without opposition.
