Israel Foils Missile Attack Launched from Yemen

A day after new airstrikes struck the Houthi-held capital of Sanaa, the Israeli military claimed to have intercepted a missile fired from Yemen early yesterday.

According to the Israeli military, “a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted… prior to crossing into Israeli territory” yesterday, causing sirens to sound in parts of Jerusalem and the Dead Sea.

It is still unknown who was responsible for the airstrike that struck Sanaa the day before, but Houthi rebels blamed it on “US-British aggression.”

The United States, Britain, and Israel did not comment.

After taking over Sanaa and overthrowing the government in 2014, the Iran-backed Huthis now control a sizable portion of Yemen.

The Houthis, who say they support the Palestinians, have launched a number of missiles and drones at Israel since the war broke out in Gaza in October of last year.

Since agreeing to a ceasefire in November, Israel and Hezbollah, another group Iran supports, have increased their attacks.
