Israeli Airstrikes in Gaza Kill 37, Escalating Conflict

The Israeli military claimed to have been targeting Hamas command centers, and Palestinian medics reported that Israeli airstrikes in Gaza yesterday killed at least 37 people.

One of the eight former refugee camps in the enclave, Nuseirat, has two Israeli strikes that resulted in the deaths of at least thirteen people, including women and children, according to Palestinian health officials.

In the Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City, another attack on a school providing refuge for displaced Palestinian families claimed the lives of at least seven people, according to medical personnel.

The Gaza health ministry released a statement yesterday stating that since October 7, over 41,638 Palestinians have died and 96,460 have been injured in Israel’s military assault on Gaza.

The Israeli military released a statement revealing that Hamas members used a command center within a compound that was once Al-Shejaia School.

Despite its denials, Hamas faces accusations of using civilian infrastructure and population for military purposes.

Two separate Israeli attacks in the Zeitoun suburb of Gaza City and in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, killed five Palestinians later yesterday, according to medics.

An Israeli airstrike on a tent containing displaced people in Khan Younis, south of the enclave, resulted in the deaths of six Palestinians, according to medical personnel.

Israel’s military forces were using anti-tank rockets, mortar fire, and explosive devices, according to statements released separately by the armed wings of Hamas, the Islamic Jihad, and other smaller factions. These forces were operating in various parts of Gaza.
