A truck’s head-on collision with a CNG-powered autorickshaw claimed the lives of five people.
The mishap took place on the Joypurhat-Khetlal road in the Majhipara area at about 11 am on Monday, According to Khetlal Police.
Two people were killed instantly when a Battoli autorickshaw traveling toward Khetlal collided with a truck traveling in the opposite direction. The other three people died en route to the hospital, said police.
The deceased are autorickshaw driver Amzad, 50, and passengers Nasir Chowdhury, 23, Sirajul Islam, 60, Shahnaz, 45, and Shahinur Begum, 38.
The victims’ bodies were sent to the Modern General Hospital and Diagnostic Center, Joypurhat.
