Jahangirnagar University (JU) students on Friday demanded that Prothom Alo reporter Samsuzzaman Shams, who was detained in a DSA case, be released by Sunday by blocking the Dhaka-Aricha Highway for around an hour.
About 50 students left the university’s Murad Chattar at 2:45 pm. Following a march, they arrived at the Dhaka-Aricha highway and began demonstrating there. Protesters yelled things like, “Scrap the Digital Security Act” and “Release shams unconditionally.”
Before the demonstration, law enforcement personnel had taken a position at the university’s Dairy Gate.
