Due to renovations, the Kalurghat Bridge will be closed for three months, interrupting road and rail traffic. The Bangladesh Railway has chosen a contractor to handle the Tk 55 crore restoration.
Additionally, rail service on the Chattogram-Dohazari route will not resume until the Kalurghat Bridge is reopened.
To guarantee a smooth car passage, the Roads and Highways Division has started a ferry service close to the bridge.
Under the bridge, two ferries will run, and one will be on standby. A fixed toll of Tk 5 applies to rickshaws, vans, bicycles, and carts; Tk 10 applies to motorbikes; Tk 25 applies to three-wheelers; Tk 55 applies to private cars; Tk 90 applies to microbuses; Tk 115 applies to minibusses; Tk 135 applies to agricultural vehicles; Tk 170 applies to small trucks; Tk 205 applies to buses; Tk 225 applies to trucks; Tk 450 applies to heavy trucks; and Tk 565 applies to trailers.
For the ten lakh residents of Boalkhali Upazila to access different parts of the city, the bridge was essential.
