Kenya Boarding School Fire Kills 17 Students

17 pupils have perished in a fire at a primary boarding school in central Kenya, according to a police spokeswoman on Friday.

According to President William Ruto, he has urged the relevant authorities to look into the matter and bring individuals accountable.

Resila Onyango, the spokeswoman, stated in a broadcast on Kenya’s Hot 96 FM radio that more rescuers were their route to the Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri and that further information will be provided by the authorities later.

Over the phone with Reuters, Onyango stated, “We have lost 17 pupils in the fire incident while 14 are injured…” “Our team is at the scene at the scene at the moment.”

The students were severely burned in the fire, as previously reported by Citizen Television.

“I direct the appropriate authorities to look into this horrifying situation in great detail. Ruto wrote in a post on his X account, “Those who are accountable will be held accountable.”

Kenya Red Cross said on X that the school has been blocked off by the authorities.

In recent years, there have been numerous school fires in Kenya, many of which have been determined to be arson.

The administration blamed arson for the September 2017 school fire in Nairobi, which claimed the lives of nine kids.

At Kyanguli Secondary School, outside of Nairobi, a dormitory fire in 2001 claimed the lives of fifty-eight schoolboys. Eight pupils died in a school in western Kenya’s Homa Bay County in 2012.
