Metropolis Report-
According to her personal doctor, Prof. Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been treated for a number of ailments at Evercare Hospital in the capital while being closely monitored by medical staff in a cabin.
“Madam is being closely watched by medical professionals in a cabin. Since she has been treated in accordance with the recommendations of her medical board, her condition has slightly improved,” he said.
The BNP leader was checked out and treated while being admitted to Evercare Hospital on Saturday night.
The BNP leader has been receiving treatment at the hospital under the supervision of a medical board led by cardiologist Prof. Shahabuddin Talukder since her conditional release in 2020.
After Khaleda was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night, the medical board met and recommended a number of diagnostic tests, according to Dr. Zahid.
We already have the test results, and the medical board will meet again this Sunday night to analyze them and determine how to proceed with her care. After assessing her condition yesterday (Saturday), the medical board gave her the first round of treatment,” he said.
Zahid reported that a few members of the medical board also evaluated her physical state in the morning.
Regarding the cause of her hospitalization, he claimed that the BNP leader’s health examinations and treatment were required because some new symptoms combined with her pre-existing illnesses had manifested.
“It’s improper to discuss the patient’s condition in the media. I can only tell that she has had a number of illnesses, including issues with her heart, liver, and kidneys—some of which have somewhat worsened. She is being admitted to the hospital for evaluation and treatment because of this, the doctor explained.
Khaleda has been carefully cared for in the cabin, according to Dr. Zahid and his team of specialized physicians and nurses.
He responded, “It would rely on the decision of the medical board and her physical health, as to how long Khaleda can stay in the hospital. So at this time, nothing can be said.
The medical board also includes Khaleda’s daughter-in-law Dr. Zubaida Rahman in addition to local medical professionals, according to Zahid.
Sharmila Rahman Shinthi, the wife of Khaleda’s late son Arafat Rahman Koko, has also been living with her at the hospital.
Former prime minister Khaleda, 77, is afflicted with a number of conditions, including kidney, lung, heart, and eye issues as well as diabetes, arthritis, and liver cirrhosis.
On February 27 of last year, she had a checkup at the same hospital. Since contracting the coronavirus in April 2021, Khaleda has undergone six hospitalizations.
Khaleda Zia received a liver cirrhosis diagnosis in November 2021.
The BNP chief had a heart attack on June 10 due to a 95 percent blockage in her left artery, and the next day at the same hospital, the obstruction was removed and a stent was inserted in that location.
Her health issues prevented doctors from being able to remove two further blood vessel obstructions that they discovered.
