Khawaja Tower Fire in Mohakhali Took One Life

Metropolis Desk-

A fire that started this evening at Khawaja Tower in the Mohakhali neighborhood of Dhaka claimed the life of a woman and injured five more.

As she descended from the building’s ninth story, 27-year-old victim Hasna Hena collapsed and died. The officer in charge of Banani Police Station, Md Mostafizur Rahman, stated that she was employed in a ninth-floor office.

He said that upon her arrival at the Metropolitan Medical Center Limited in Mohakhali, she was pronounced dead.

A woman was brought dead to the hospital in the evening, according to hospital Emergency Medical Officer Shimul Chakrabarty.

Her spouse received the body from the hospital.

The fire that started on the 12th floor of the 14-story structure was being put out by eleven fire engines, according to Rozina Akter, the duty officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters.

Three persons have been pulled out of the building on Bir Uttam AK Khandaker Road by the fire department thus far.

It took until 9:30 p.m. to put out the fire, though.

The fire official stated that around 4:58 p.m., they were notified of the incident.

It has been reported that multiple individuals are confined inside. Rozina stated that the cause of the fire could not be determined right away.

Many people on the 12th story were spotted smashing windows, and other people fled the fire by climbing to the roof.

At about 7:00 p.m., our correspondent on the scene observed that the building’s 12th story was emitting a lot of smoke.

The Gulshan 1-Mohakhali connection road is now completely blocked by traffic.

Because the building houses data centers, interconnection exchanges (ICXs), and operation centers for multiple international internet gateway (IIG) service providers, the fire is seriously disrupting internet and communications services in the nation’s capital.
