Landslide in Malaysia Killed Three Bangladeshis

Metropolis Desk-

Yesterday in Malaysia’s Machang district, there was a landslide that claimed the lives of three Bangladeshi migrant workers.

Nazmus Sadat Salim, minister of labor at the Bangladesh mission, announced today that the deceased are Jahidul Khan, 20, and Sajjad Hossain, 20, of Shariatpur, and Monirul Islam, 31, of Pabna.

The official stated that following an autopsy, the bodies were held at a nearby hospital.

He stated that the goal of the operation is to get the dead returned home as quickly as possible and to pursue payment from their employers.

The officer told this newspaper over the phone that the migrant laborers may have entered Malaysia recently using an e-visa.

The Star, Malaysia’s English-language newspaper, said that the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) of Malaysia has since asked for companies to fully abide by the nation’s Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994.

Working at a highway construction site at Kampung Maka, Pulai Chondong, the three men were buried alive (Malaysia time) at 2:30 p.m. due to a landslide.
