For the ‘mistreatment’-related death of a Jordanian-American pilot, a doctor at Dhaka’s United Hospital Limited was sued on Tuesday.
In response to the passing of her brother, Gulf Air pilot Mohammad Youssef Hassan Al Hendi, Tala Ilhendi Josephano, the victim’s sister, filed a lawsuit against Prof. Dr. Mohamnad Omar Faruque, the hospital’s top consultant for emergency medicine and critical care.
Metropolitan Magistrate Arafatul Rakib took down the complainant’s statement and ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to conduct an investigation into the accusation and submit a report by April 13 in order to proceed.
The complainant named 10–12 United Hospital people, including Prof. Dr. Mohammad Omar Faruque. Tala, a dual citizen of Jordan and the US, complained that the hospital where her brother was receiving treatment for a heart attack failed to provide prompt and appropriate care.
She claimed that her sibling was in good health. He left his hotel in Dhaka that night of December 14 to travel to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. After having a heart attack while going through immigration, he was admitted to United Hospital.
Youssef allegedly experienced three additional heart attacks after being taken to the hospital at 5:30 am, according to Tala. Yet, he received no cardiologist care, and appropriate heart care was not started. He passed away on January 31.
The hospital stated that the claims of medical malpractice were totally baseless and contrived.
