Last night, a lawsuit was filed with the Ramna Police Station under the Digital Security Act against Prothom Alo Editor and Publisher Matiur Rahman, reporter Samsuzzaman Shams, an unnamed assistant cameraman, and unnamed others.
Ramna police informed about the case at around 2 am. According to the case’s first information report (FIR), it was filed yesterday at 11:10 pm, reports The Daily Star.
The complaint was brought under the Data Security Act by 61-year-old lawyer Abdul Malek Mashiur Malek. In the FIR, Malek accused them of smearing the state’s reputation and image through the use of print, internet, and electronic media.
The accused intentionally disseminated false information, according to the FIR, in order to undermine law and order. The DSA’s sections 25, 31, and 35 were invoked in the filing of the case.
