In three upazilas of Khulna, lightning struck four persons, one of them was a child, and they all died, according to authorities yesterday.
Out of them, on Thursday afternoon, one each in Botiaghata and Paikgachha upazilas and two in Ghorilal village, Koyra upazila, lost a person, including a kid.
Enayet Ali, 37, of Koyra and Nazmul, 8, of Matiadanga village, son of Al Amin, were named among the deceased. A single Musa Gazi sustained severe injuries in the incident.
Also departed were Al Mamun, 17, the son of Moni Chowkidar of Kararia village in Botiaghata, and Srikanth Mondal, 25, a resident of Deluti union under Paikgachha.
Srikanth was struck by lightning while seeking cover in a hut during afternoon rains, according to Deluti UP chairman Ripun Kumar Mondal. Srikanth worked at a fish farm. He passed away instantly.
The bodies were given to the relatives, according to Khulna’s assistant superintendent of police (ASP-south), Abul Kalam Akhonda.
