Around three hours after the motorcycle she was riding pillion on was struck by a lorry near Lalbagh’s Beribadh in Dhaka Friday night, a final-year student at North South University passed away Saturday morning.
The deceased was named Sanjida Akter Tamanna, 27. She had used a ride-sharing app for the motorcycle trip, said police.
According to Lalbagh Police, Sanjida was brought to a nearby hospital at about 10:00 pm on Friday after the accident. She was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
According to police, she was pronounced dead by the DMCH at about 1:00 am on Saturday. For an autopsy, the body has been sent to the DMCH mortuary. Police added that in addition to seizing the truck, police apprehended the driver.
Sanjida, the daughter of Abu Taher from Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali, had been residing in the Kamrangirchar neighborhood of the city.
