19 individuals have died as a result of an accident that occurred in the Kutubpur region of the Shibchar upazila of Madaripur; two of them died as a result of their injuries while receiving treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
On Sunday morning, a bus headed for Dhaka drove off the Padma Bridge approach road and crashed into a ditch, injuring about 30 people.
Among the victims were Sweety, 20, a second-year student in the English program at Dhaka University, and Minhaz Biswas, 22, the bus supervisor. The other dead people’s identities weren’t immediately revealed.
According to police, in command of the hospital police outpost, seven of the injured were being treated at DMCH.
Rescue and recovery efforts were being carried out by the fire department and police, who were assisted by locals. Depending on the severity of the injured, the injured were brought to both local and Dhaka hospitals.
According to a number of sources, the Emad Paribahan bus rolled into the ditch because the driver lost control of the vehicle.
14 bodies, including the driver, had been removed from the bus’s wreckage as of 8:15 am, and three more died on their way to the hospital.
According to media sources, the bus left Khulna’s Fultala bus counter at 4 am and traveled to the crossroads of the Shibbari Royal Hotel and the Shonadanga bus stop before departing for Dhaka with 43 passengers.
Several family members were visiting the Emad Paribahan kiosk at the bus stop to inquire about their loved ones after learning of the accident.
