According to NDTV, a bus stop in the Thane district of Maharashtra, India, has recently been named “Bangladesh” because of the area’s large Bengali population.
The name of the area was Indira Nagar but used to be called Bangladesh due to the presence of Bengalis, according to locals.
The neighborhood houses West Bengali refugees who went there years ago in search of employment and affordable housing.
Residents out there have expressed varying opinions on how it will affect their sense of identity.
