Malaysia detains 118 Bangladeshis

162 migrant construction workers were apprehended by Malaysian law enforcement, 118 of whom were Bangladeshis. On May 25, several law enforcement agencies, including DBKL, detained the migrants at a construction site in Jalan Bukit Kiara in Kuala Lumpur during an integrated operation.

On May 26, DBKL posted a statement on its Facebook page stating that 162 construction employees had been arrested for not possessing appropriate identification. 11 from Indonesia, 10 from Pakistan, 23 from Myanmar, 118 from Bangladesh, and 23 from Indonesia are among the detained.

The Department of Occupational Safety and Health Malaysia, the Immigration Department, the Fire and Rescue Department, the Construction Industry Development Board, the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation, and the Royal Malaysian Police all took part in the operation run by DBKL.

According to DBKL, the drive will keep detaining illegal immigrants throughout the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur in accordance with legislative constituencies.
