Metropolis Report-
Since early Wednesday morning (25 January), passengers have begun boarding metro trains at the Pallabi station.
At 8:34 am, a metro train made its maiden stop at the Pallabi station. After pausing for 30 seconds to let passengers on, it then departed for Agargaon.
According to Station Controller (Pallabi), three gates that were unlocked for commercial use before 8 am allowed passengers to enter the station.
At the newest station of the nation’s first metro rail service, there were no long lines of passengers to be seen.
Many, however, were unable to purchase tickets from the vending machines because they lacked change or were using currencies from before the year 2019.
The ticket vending machines have no change inside of them, according to Rover Scout which is helping the people at the station.
“We are advising the passengers to manually buy and collect their tickets from the counters within the station because of this.”
The cost from Pallabi to Agargaon, Pallabi to Uttara, and Uttara to Pallabi has been set by the government at Tk30.
There was no delay from Uttara North Station to Agargaon station as the government began the operation of the metro rail service on a limited scale on December 28 of last year.
But today, Pallabi station will also be served by the metro train. The DMTCL estimates that Kamalapur will have rail service by 2025 and Motijheel by the end of 2024.
The metro rail will begin running 24 trains on the Agargaon to Kamalapur section by December 2024.
