Metropolis Report-
Two people, including a woman, were burnt due to an AC explosion in a house at Mirpur in the capital. They have been admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
The explosion occurred at East Imannagar Khalpar of Mirpur Section 13 around 4 am on Saturday. The injured are Hajera Begum (45) and Aryan (14).
Abdus Salam, Hajera Begum’s husband, said they live in their tin-shed house at Mirpur-13. His wife is a housewife, and Aryan works as a maid in their house. He was at another place at night.
In the morning, he found out that his wife and housekeeper were burnt in the explosion at home. They were then taken to the Burn Institute. He thinks the ignition of the mosquito coil from the AC gas can cause this explosion.
The resident physician of the emergency department of the Burn Institute, SM Ayub Hossain, said that 50 percent of Hajera Begum’s body and 70 percent of Aryan’s body were burnt. The condition of two of them is critical. They are undergoing treatment.
