The body of a student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) was recovered from Shitalakkhya River in Narayanganj on Monday.
The deceased was Fardin Noor Parash, 24, a third-year student of Civil Engineering department of Buet, said Narayanganj Sadar police.
On information, police recovered the body from Banani Ghat under Siddhirganj Police Station in the evening and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Family members said Fardin lived with his family in Konapara area of Demra in Dhaka. Fardin’s mobile phone was switched off since Friday night.
Later, a general diary was filed with the police station.
The reason behind the death could not be known immediately, said police.
