Nepal Wants Potential Collaboration with Bangladesh

Metropolis Report-

The potential for cooperation between Nepal and Bangladesh was highlighted by the ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh, Ghanshyam Bhandari, in five crucial areas, including the energy industry.

To promote the first trilateral power transfer from Nepal to Bangladesh, with a potential export of up to 40 MW, he applauded India’s initiative.

Additionally, the envoy suggested discussions for a combined investment in Nepal’s 683 MW Sunkoshi III hydropower project.

He added that the Bangladeshi government is working with the Indian GMR Company to complete a deal for 500 MW of power from Upper Karnali.

At Cosmos Dialogue, which was held as a part of the “Ambassadors’ Lecture Series” by Cosmos Foundation, the ambassador gave the opening remarks.

He emphasized the hydroelectric potential of Nepal and the rising energy demands of Bangladesh, saying that, if fully realized, Nepal’s hydropower may significantly contribute to sustainable energy solutions in South Asia.
