A four-part documentary series honoring Yash Raj Films’ success and legacy has been confirmed by Netflix. 35 of the Hindi cinema industry’s most prominent voices will be featured in the series.
Smriti Mundhra, an Oscar and Emmy nominated director who previously worked on Netflix on the success of the “Indian Matchmaking” and “Never Have I Ever” franchises, is behind the camera for the series “The Romantics.”
Monika Shergill, VP of Content for Netflix India, provides more information about the partnership: Famously known as The King of Romance, Yash Chopra’s films introduced a fresh wave of emotion, individualism, and cultural change to Hindi cinema and contributed to the development of one of the largest film industries in the world to what it is today. We’re collaborating with the creative powerhouses YRF and Smriti Mundra to present The Romantics to our fans throughout the world in honor of the legendary music, tales, and nostalgia.
The compelling documentary series will provide viewers with a window into the lives of one of the most significant families in the history of Bollywood films. It is the authentic and conclusive account of Yash Chopra and his son Aditya Chopra’s struggle to establish a world-class studio. The show will start streaming on February 14, 2023.
